Although Vitesse's exterior had just been beautifully repainted and was as immaculate externally as a 1922 barge could be, her internal fit out was the complete opposite, leaving a lot to be desired. She had an excellent Lister ST2 Diesel generator and a wonderful, but old (1954) Mercedes OM321 5.1 Litre Diesel engine. Mechanically, she appeared in very good condition and the engine sounded great! I put in an offer substantially below the asking price due to the owner having told me a little too much about his personal circumstances and reasons requiring a quick sale. His back was against the wall and although unfortunate, I used what he'd told me to my advantage.
