As Vitesse's owner led me from his car towards a pair of moored barges, I wasn't quite sure what I was seeing. The first ship was as rusty a hulk as ever I'd seen, but the man had now passed this and was striding towards the second and only other boat in sight which seemed to me at this point, to have a 'halo' circling above it! I was stunned! Quickly waving him ahead, I phoned 'Fikkers', the broker on the pretence of double checking a couple of what suddenly became rather important details about this barge. What I was seeing was AS CLOSE to the mental picture of my PERFECT BARGE as it was possible to get. I seriously wondered at this point whether I was either dreaming, in the wrong place, or someone had missed a zero from the price. But no, all turned out to be exactly as we'd discussed and Vitesse was not only in my price range, but utterly utterly stunning to look at! For the first time since I embarked on this adventure, I started to get rather excited...
