Winter had arrived with a vengeance but Dad and I persevered. We toured through Paris and a freezing Burgundy in our heaterless camper van visiting barge brokers H2O in St. Jean de Losne and Bourgogne Marine in nearby Saint Symphorien. Unfortunately the ships we viewed were either nice but hopelessly out of my budget or simply hopeless, being held together by rust rather than rivets. The weather eventually got the better of us and I retreated to India and spent the rest of the winter backpacking...
