So while the shipyard worked on the exterior, I set about beating the living daylights out of the inside, depositing whatever I didn't need in a skip that I hired at HUGE expense from Biffa. Being able to simply drop the spoils over the side within the hanger after the yard workers had gone home was a huge bonus. Being in the shipyard, I also had access to hoists and a fork lift truck which proved invaluable when it came to removing a heavy old paraffin heater and massive but leaking paraffin tank I exposed in the bow (see above). In fact, in hindsight, I couldn't have done what I did after I'd left the shipyard. The work was extremely hard and dirty and all I had to wash in for three weeks was a bucket. |
